Tamara Bavendam, MD, MS has clinical expertise in female pelvic floor disorders including GSM, was a Senior Medical Director at Pfizer, Inc. for 10 years and a Senior Scientific Officer in the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases for over 8 years serves as Senior Vice-President Strategic Planning.
She recently retired from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases after serving 8 1/2 years as a Senior Advisor for Women’s Urologic Health. Dr. Bavendam joined the National Institutes of Health to develop a research program for the prevention of lower urinary tract conditions in women. As a urologist, the focus of her career has been to reduce the impact of lower urinary tract conditions on the lives of women. She was a full-time faculty at the University of Washington in Seattle and Drexel University in Philadelphia. After 20 years of direct patient care, Dr. Bavendam joined Pfizer, Inc where she was involved in the clinical trial programs for sexual dysfunction and overactive bladder and numerous epidemiology studies investigating the impact of lower urinary tract conditions on individuals, payers, and society.
