Our mission is to conduct and support medical marijuana/cannabinoid research to develop affordable treatments for serious and life-threatening diseases and alleviate patient suffering around the world.

Immugen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., is a pharmaceutical company that is developing drugs to confront  significant unmet medical needs in disorders for which modulation of the immune system would have clinical benefit.  Immugen has established patent protection on a number of immunomodulators which may provide protection from the immune response to such viruses as influenza, slow the progression of HIV disease and prevent its transmission, and provide treatment for a variety of autoimmune diseases. These immunomodulators are low molecular-weight compounds.  They are based on a classical cannabinoid template which selectively binds and activates specialized receptors found almost exclusively within the immune system, type 2 cannabinoid receptors (CB2 receptors).  They are, therefore, devoid of psychoactive effects at clinical doses.

Committment to Basic Research

Immugen is committed to basic research which will lead a greater understanding of the cannabinoid class of drugs.  Ultimately, we hope to develop a useful alternative to marijuana for the general public’s need. This should not diminish the perceived good currently derived from marijuana use.  However, it should establish a scientific basis for the use  of the non-psychoactive, synthetic derivatives and ultimately provide a way to administer the medication that would be more predictable and acceptable to regulatory agencies worldwide.

Partnerships

Immugen has also partnered with Aquem Pharmaceuticals to discover new cannabinoid drugs to add to our intellectual property portfolio.  The goal of the partnership is to create synthetic cannabinoid drug candidates that have optimal activity.  Such drug candidates will be a valuable addition to Immugen's drug pipeline and will further the acquisition of knowledge on the medical potential of cannabinoid-based therapies.
